Healing Connections Psychotherapy

Trauma work is more than an area of specialization for me. It is the work that shaped both my personal healing and my professional path.My own experience with trauma, therapy, and ultimately EMDR gave me a deep respect for the capacity of the nervous system to heal when people are given the right conditions, the right support, and an approach that honours the complexity of what they have lived through. That experience continues to influence the way I sit with clients and the way I teach and mentor other therapists today.I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), an EMDR Certified Therapist, and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Counselling Psychology and have completed extensive advanced training in trauma, dissociation, EMDR therapy, and nervous-system-informed approaches to treatment. As the Founder and Clinical Director of Healing Connections Psychotherapy Inc., I lead a trauma-informed multidisciplinary practice serving North Bay and surrounding communities. My clinical work has included children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, first responders, and individuals living with complex and cumulative trauma.EMDR has become central to my clinical work because of its ability to go beyond simply understanding trauma intellectually and support the brain and nervous system in processing experiences that continue to feel as though they are happening in the present. My EMDR practice extends beyond the standard protocol. I have pursued advanced training to support complex presentations, developmental and preverbal trauma, recent and ongoing traumatic stress, addictions, dissociation, chronic pain, and clients whose experiences do not fit neatly into a single-event trauma model. My advanced EMDR and trauma training includes:EMDR therapy for developmental and preverbal traumaDeTUR for addictions and dysfunctional urgesEMDR Protocol for Recent Critical Incidents and Ongoing Traumatic Stress (EMDR-PRECI)Acute Stress Syndrome Stabilization (ASSYST), including individual and group applicationsEMDR Integrative Group Treatment Protocol for Ongoing Traumatic Stress (EMDR-IGTP-OTS)Flash Technique for distressing and complex trauma memoriesEgo State TherapyInternal Family Systems (IFS)-informed approachesAdvanced trauma and dissociation trainingCertificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Traumatic Stress InstituteI believe strongly that EMDR treatment should be responsive rather than rigid. Preparation, stabilization, pacing, resourcing, processing, and integration should reflect the individual client in front of us; their capacity, history, nervous system, safety, strengths, and therapeutic goals.EMDR Consultation & MentorshipOne of the most meaningful parts of my work is supporting other clinicians as they develop confidence and competence in EMDR therapy. As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, I provide consultation to EMDR-trained therapists who want to strengthen their clinical reasoning, deepen their understanding of case conceptualization, work more confidently with complex presentations, and move beyond simply following a protocol toward truly understanding the therapy they are providing. My consultation style is practical, collaborative, curious, and grounded in real clinical work. I particularly enjoy helping clinicians think through complex trauma, dissociation, attachment and developmental trauma, stuck processing, preparation and readiness, interweaves, modifications to standard EMDR therapy, and the realities of bringing EMDR into everyday clinical practice.First Responders & Operational TraumaMy work with trauma also led me to develop the Operational Resiliency Protocol (ORP), an EMDR-informed early-intervention and resiliency training program created specifically for first responders and frontline professionals. The ORP reflects my broader belief that we should not have to wait until operational stress develops into significant psychological injury before providing people with meaningful tools. My work in this area focuses on prevention, early intervention, nervous-system regulation, cumulative exposure, peer and organizational resilience, and practical strategies that can be used within the realities of frontline work.Beyond EMDRMy clinical experience includes PTSD and complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, grief and loss, addiction, anger, relationship trauma, occupational stress, infidelity, and the impact of cumulative or repeated traumatic experiences. I also have extensive experience working with couples and have completed training in the Gottman Method, including work with relationships affected by affairs, addiction, trauma, disconnection, and significant life stress. At the centre of all of my work is a simple belief: people are capable of extraordinary healing when therapy recognizes not only what happened to them, but how their mind, body, relationships, and nervous system learned to survive it.Having experienced EMDR from both sides of the therapeutic relationship, I carry enormous respect for the vulnerability required to do this work. Whether I am sitting with a client, consulting with another therapist, teaching a room of clinicians, or working alongside first responders, my goal remains the same—to bring trauma treatment out of theory and into compassionate, practical, meaningful work that helps people move forward.
