Meg Kapil Counselling
Meg is a dedicated advocate for mental health and wellness, committed to enhancing access and support for individuals, groups, and families. Meg holds a PhD in Educational Psychology, is certified in EMDR (CIT) and has a diverse professional background as a university instructor, practicum coordinator, clinical supervisor and counsellor (CCS, RCC-ACS), and has supported children, youth, adults, and families to navigate a range of challenges including the impact of prior experience on present wellbeing and functioning. Meg has also completed training to develop competency in supporting clients who have experienced trauma (e.g., EMDR, IFS, DNMS, IFS-EMDR integration, DBR, Flash) and her clinical approach draws primarily from ideas and concepts situated in trauma-informed, person-centered, cognitive behavioural, positive psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, and neurodiversity affirming approaches (ADHD clinical services provider and neurodiversity specialist training). Meg’s clinical expertise lies in supporting clients to achieve better regulation and wellbeing, addressing a wide range of challenges. Her notable work includes the “Creating Calm” series of workbooks for managing stress and anxiety, which received the 2021 CCPA Counselling Resources & Training Materials Award. Her research focuses on the interactions between stress regulation, learning, and success outcomes, encompassing both mental health and performance. Practical applications of her work include the “Stress Stories Project,” a curriculum designed to help students manage the combined impact of school stress and academic demands. Drawing from her clinical and research experience, Meg focuses on facilitating flourishing through regulation of the social, emotional, and practical aspects of wellbeing, supporting feeling well and functioning well.
