How to Join

1. Eligibility Requirements:

• • EMDR Basic Training certificate

  • Current professional association or college membership
    (See “EMDR Canada Approved Regulatory Bodies” for details)

2. Processing Months:

Applications are accepted and processed only in January, March, May, July, and September.

3. Membership Terms & Fees:

• 2025 First-Time Fee PROMO: $99 (includes EMDRIA affiliate access)

• Renewal or Returning Members: $250 per year

• All fees are non-refundable and cover full year membership (no proration)

• Membership runs December 1 to December 1, regardless of join date

4. Renewal Window:

Renewals occur between September 1 – December 1 each year.

5. Processing Time:

Allow up to 5 weeks for EMDRIA affiliation activation; EMDRIA will notify you directly by email.

6. Journal Access:

As an EMDRIA affiliate, you’ll receive access to the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research, with an option to purchase printed copies (which can be arranged through EMDRIA directly).

Choosing the Right Membership Category

We want to ensure you’re listed correctly in the EMDR Canada Therapist Directory (e.g., Basic Trained Therapist, EMDR Certified Therapist, EMDR Consultant, or EMDR Trainer).

👉 Please apply at your highest level of EMDR qualification.
Example: If you are an EMDR Consultant, select the Consultant category and upload your current EMDRIA Consultant certificate.

Required Documentation by Category

Basic Trained EMDR Therapist

• Submit your EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Training certificate (PDF)

• Certificate must show training + consultation hours

• Note: This is not the same as EMDR Certified status (see differences here)

EMDR Certified Therapist

• Submit your current EMDRIA Certified Therapist certificate (PDF)

• Certificate must be valid (not expired)

• EMDRIA Certification requires additional training beyond Basic Training, plus minimum 2 years of EMDR practice

• ❌ Do NOT submit screenshots, EMDRIA badges, or receipts

EMDR Consultant in Training

Submit BOTH:

1. Your current EMDRIA Certified Therapist certificate (PDF)

2. ONE of the following:

• Screenshot from EMDRIA membership page showing Consultant-in-Training status, OR
• Letter from your Consultant (dated within 6 months) confirming your status

EMDR Consultant

• Submit your current EMDRIA Consultant certificate (PDF)

• Certificate must be valid (not expired)

• ❌ Screenshots, badges, or receipts are not accepted

EMDR Trainer

• Submit your current EMDRIA Trainer certificate (PDF)

• Certificate must be valid (not expired)

• ❌ Screenshots, badges, or receipts are not accepted
