EMDR can help you reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer feel as disturbing, overwhelming or emotionally charged. When trauma gets stuck, you may find yourself reacting to situations in the present as though you are still dealing with something from the past. EMDR can help your brain and body process those experiences so they feel more like memories of something that happened, rather than something that is still happening.I work with adults who have experienced trauma and are struggling with the lasting effects it can have on their lives. Trauma and intrusive thoughts often go hand in hand, and you may find yourself replaying memories, feeling constantly on edge, becoming easily triggered or reacting strongly to things that seem unrelated to what happened.I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. Through EMDR, we work together to identify the memories, thoughts, emotions and body sensations that continue to feel stuck. Using bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps you reprocess these experiences so they become less emotionally overwhelming and easier to manage. As you move through the EMDR process, you can begin to feel more grounded, reconnect with yourself and regain a sense of safety and confidence. You can learn to recognize when your nervous system is becoming activated and develop ways to help yourself feel calm and grounded when you are triggered. My goal is to help you move from feeling stuck in survival mode to feeling more present, connected and in control of your life. You don’t have to forget your past to move forward—you just don’t have to keep reliving it.
