Patterns Counselling

My name is Kate Walker, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and founder of Patterns Counselling in British Columbia. I work with youth (10+), adolescents, parents, and adults, supporting clients through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and have additional training in Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Trauma Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and EMDR. My areas of focus include multi-generational family trauma, acute and complex trauma, medical trauma, chronic pain, sleep difficulties, relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions, self-worth, anxiety, and depression. Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working as a writer and storyteller in the Canadian factual television industry. That background continues to shape my work today, deepening my appreciation for the stories people carry and the ways their life experiences influence identity, relationships, and healing. I find great meaning in helping clients cultivate self-awareness, insight, and lasting transformation.I bring a lot of creativity and personalization into my work with clients, shaping treatment to the unique needs and goals of each individual. I have also maintained a personal yoga and meditation practice for nearly three decades. Whether clients are interested in exploring spirituality as part of their healing journey or simply developing mindfulness and nervous system regulation skills, I bring extensive experience and care to this aspect of the work.
