I am a retired corrections officer and then transitioned to working in health care as a socialworker during COVID. In both professions I was exposed to frontline trauma combined withanger. I felt the effects on every aspect of my life and that of my colleagues. What helped me was seeking support through counseling, I made the decision to help others andpursued my master’s in social work and counseling psychology. My varied lived experiences from work and life range from addictions, family dysfunction, marriage, divorce, relationships, raising children, and juggling life’s expectations has providedme with a deep appreciation and perspective for life’s challenges. My education has not stopped since university. My ongoing studies are in Somatic Experiencing,EMDR, IFS/parts work, attachment theory, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and yoga. I work from atrauma-informed perspective, I understand that you need to feel safe first to open up and tell yourstory and, letting you decide how you want to process it. My goal is to help you make shifts fromjust surviving to thriving. The idea is to help you reconnect with your true self.My practice style is relaxed and compassionate, but I can be straightforward when we need apush to encourage change. To that end, I create a space to explore difficulties while co-creatinggoals to improve your mental and physical functioning at home, at work, and within family andromantic relationships. Whether you are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship difficulties or past experiences that are affecting your present I can work along sideyou to help you feel understood and work on your terms to find solutions that work for you.Within my practice, I warmly welcome people of all cultural backgrounds, abilities, familystatuses, sexual orientations, and gender identifications, from youth to adults.
