Adrianne is a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Psychoanalyst and Registered Nurse, with expertise in psychiatric/mental health and addictions.
She is EMDR trained, has done an Externship in Emotion Focused Therapy (ICEEFT; http://www.iceeft.com/), a Certificate in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and an advanced course in Motivational Interviewing.
Adrianne offers individual psychoanalysis as well as individual, couple and family psychoanalytic psychotherapy, helping people adjust and cope with life transitions and interpersonal difficulties.
The goal of psychotherapy is to do both, relieve undesirable symptoms and foster positive capacities and resources. These resources include greater capacity to tolerate strong emotions in self and others, increased flexibility and adaptability, greater capacity to enjoy close and stable relationships, increased ability to tolerate ambiguity and conflict, and increased capacity for playfulness and joy.
She has particular expertise with addictions and concurrent disorders, having worked in hospital and community settings across the addictions treatment continuum.
She is an Instructor at Tyndale Seminary teaching Addictions. She has taught the Mental Health First Aid Basic (12 hours) and Mental Health First Aid for Adults who interact with Youth (14 hours), programs of the Mental Health Commission of Canada (www.mentalhealthfirstaid.ca) for 11 years.
