EMDR Basic Training
FunctionAbility Rehabilitation
I am a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I engage in continuing professional education to the requirements of the College. I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I obtained a Bachelor of Social Work with Distinction with a Minor in Neuroscience and Mental Health from Carleton University. I also obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work from Waterloo University.
With over 25 years of clinical experience, I have worked with individuals of all age groups in both the private and public sector. My areas of expertise include relationship issues (families and couples), stress management, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD/ADD, and personal growth. I utilize a multidimensional approach to therapy, exploring each individual’s biological, psychological, social and spiritual needs. I integrate methodologies of trauma-informed care, EMDR, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion focused family therapy (EFFT), internal family systems (IFS), motivational interviewing (MI), narrative/talk therapy, and mindfulness approaches. These techniques offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to achieving.
In addition, I work from a cultural competence approach and recognize the importance of anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practice. I am a strong advocate of human rights and equality, and promote independence and dignity, whilst realizing potentials and improving life opportunities for the people I support.
