Dr. Saunders is an established psychologist with nearly two decades of experience in mental health care, providing assessment and psychotherapy treatment for individuals with diverse emotional, mental, and physical health issues. She brings a wealth of personal and professional experiences that contribute to her sensitivity in working with diverse clients across the adult lifespan (18-90+). Dr. Saunders is passionate about empowering individuals, creating conditions for change and healing, and re-energizing the human spirit. She strives to help individuals navigate challenges, overcome barriers, recover from mental illness, heal from trauma, regain balance in life, and progress towards emotional wellness, personal growth, and living their best lives. Dr. Saunders is experienced in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, coping with chronic illness, chronic pain, psychosis, maladaptive personality traits or disorders, grief and loss, among other issues. She has expertise in the assessment and treatment of neurodivergent individuals including those with ADHD and on the Autism Spectrum (ASD), which she approaches with an orientation of acceptance and compassion for the unique struggles involved. She teaches practical skills and targeted strategies to enhance change and guides individuals in healthy stress management, navigating relationship issues, coping with challenging life transitions, dealing with workplace issues, recovering from burnout, etc., with a focus on improving health and developing resilience. Dr. Saunders skillfully integrates therapy interventions from various evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) among others, to provide individualized and targeted treatment to best meet the needs and goals of clients, respecting values and preferences of clients. She strives to keep abreast of research and new treatment developments to enhance client care. Her style is described as warm, open, collaborative, respectful and genuine, and she aims to provide a caring and non-judgemental space to work through difficulties and enhance change, healing, and thriving. She flexibly provides in-person, virtual, and hybrid services. Weekdays, evenings and weekend appointments are available. She provides a free 15-minute phone consultation if needed.
