As a social worker for over 25 years in an outpatient mental health clinic, I have supported children, youth and their families with a range of mental health struggles. Through my practice, I have witnessed the impact of hidden trauma in many of these individuals. This has lead me to build my knowledge into the neurobiology of trauma to better understand their experiences. Through therapeutic approaches such as EMDR therapy and the basic principals of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, I start from a mindset that appreciates the organicity of the body and incorporates play based approaches to my clients. As we journey together in this process to access one’s inner strengths then there is hope for healing to begin.
