Alisha Sabourin

EMDR Basic Training

Center Street Psychology

Alisha Sabourin (she/her) is a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. With an extensive career spanning over a decade, Alisha brings a wealth of knowledge and tenacity to her work. She has been working with a diverse population for over a decade. She is skillfully trained to support people genuinely and collaboratively by reigniting and developing skills and techniques to rebuild the relationship with themselves, others, and the issues that they are facing.

She comes from a place of curiosity, compassion, care, and humour. Alisha is gentle yet straightforward and goal-oriented to support each person?s unique individual needs and wants out of therapy. It?s not what?s wrong with you for seeking out support, it?s what?s right!

Alisha is well-versed in a diverse range of therapeutic approaches and interventions, including The Grief Recovery Method®, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), The Flash Technique, Hypnosis, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).?

Her other specialty is working with couples (same-sex relationships, those practising consensual non-monogamy and kink-friendly lifestyles), utilizing The Gottman Method Couples (trained in Level 3). She holds certifications in Treating Affairs and Trauma and has earned her Leader Certificate in The Gottman?s Seven Principles. Additionally, Alisha is trained in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), allowing her to provide unique and personalized couples therapy and Marriage Preparation programs.?

Alisha is an NIHB provider and has a special interest in working with the Indigenous population in and out of their communities. She is an ally to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, along with people who have experienced complex and intergenerational trauma.

Her latest passion is preparing the next generation of psychologists entering the field and providing ethical and encouraging clinical supervision to interns in their Master’s Program.

In her personal life, Alisha attends therapy herself (wouldn?t that be a contradiction)! She loves hanging out with friends and her partner and being an Aunty to Betty (our Wellness dog). Alisha considers herself a foodie and will be the first to try out a new restaurant or tried and true favourite. If she had chosen a different profession, it would have been a food critic.

Furthermore, Alisha guides students pursuing their Master’s degree, supervising them during their internships as well as Registered Provisional Psychologists.?

Alisha is also filled with wanderlust and has visited multiple different places around the world. While in her undergraduate, she told friends she wanted to be a student forever and this still rings true, as she is continually learning personally and professionally. During downtime, she?ll be watching true crime documentaries, and listening to podcasts, audiobooks, and music. Alisha has most recently taken up boxing lessons, reignited her love for yoga, and always enjoys walks with beautiful views.
