Dr. André Gagnon

Graduated as M.D. from Université Laval in 1976, in Psychiatry from Ottawa in 1980. He studied family therapy, behavioral and cognitive therapy and became a psychoanalyst in 1984. Working in Gatineau, head of the Adopsychiatry program for 27 years, he is now in adult shared-care.

Involved academically with the University of Ottawa and McGill, where he is currently adjunct professor. Dr Gagnon was the first Director of CME for Psychiatry in Ottawa. He received the COPCE prize from CPA (best education program: Suicide workshop). He has been an international speaker, author, and researcher in the fields of suicide and youth mental health including : attachment issues and academic success, on Identity & Spirituality, and Sports. Trained in EMDR since 1997, he promoted this therapy for trauma survivors of all fields, and the principles of Structural Dissociation so to heal the past.

Invested in Mental Preparation for athletes, artists, doctors, and performers for more than 40 years, this followed a strong commitment in elite sports and coaching in 8 different sports. Again EMDR is used to focus and re-process in these contexts to support performance.
