BMS Thunderbird Management and Lifestyle Consulting, Counselling, and Creative Enterprise Solutions, Ltd.

I am Brenda Sedgwick. I hold a Masters in Sociology with extensive experiential training in counselling psychology and human diversity. I am registered to practice psychotherapy in Ontario (CRPO 006115). I am additionally licensed as a certified addictions counsellor, certified telehealth counsellor, and certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I provide private counselling and through Employee Assistance Programs and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). For organizations interested in growth, I am additionally qualified as a Registered Professional Planner and performing clinical evaluative sciences. Currently, I am studying neuroscience.

I offer an integrative and storied approach to psychotherapy practice; supported by accreditation in using varied techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (including specialized training for eating disorders, insomnia, and suicidality); Prolonged Exposure Therapy enhanced by Virtual Reality; and benefits of clinical hypnotherapy to reduce stress, manage chronic pain, relieve sleep disorders, modify undesired behaviours (smoking, phobia and compulsive eating and drinking, etc.), and facilitate recovery from developmental and psychosocial trauma. I am qualified and experienced providing counselling and psychotherapy with individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations, and small communities.

My approach is influenced by humanist, behavioural, existential, relational and structural psychology; as well as cross-cultural training; and by the positive influence over mind and body using mindfulness-oriented techniques and clinical hypnosis.

I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, the Canadian Society of Clinical Hypnosis-Ontario Division, the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals, the Canadian Addiction Counsellor?s Certification Federation, the Canadian and International EMDR Associations, International Association of Trauma Professionals, and Psychotherapy Matters.

Having overcome adversity by building and sustaining a corporation as a platform for developing others? entrepreneurial strengths and self-determination over a 42-year career, I offer guidance in career management and networking. For several years, I lectured and led tutorial groups in sociology and methodologies at Trent University.
