Colette Smart

EMDR Basic Training

University of Victoria

As a registered psychologist, my practice focus is in clinical neuropsychology and cognitive rehabilitation. I support people who have had major medical events that have led to a change in their cognitive and emotional functioning, including medical PTSD. I also support people living with chronic illness in the context of a history of complex trauma exposures (e.g., child maltreatment, current relationship problems, intergenerational trauma). My overall theoretical orientation is existential-humanistic-attachment oriented, using EMDR, somatic, and mindfulness-based approaches. I have a small practice as my main role is as a faculty member within the Graduate Training Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Victoria, where I teach and supervise clinical graduate students and also conduct research.
