EMDR Certified Therapist
Self-Employed
I am a passionate and innovative social worker and psychotherapist with an artful and integrative approach to EMDR therapy. I incorporate a number of modalities and adjunct approaches in my work. I am a Safe and Sound provider and, as well, draw from Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems, CBT, DBT, and ACT. I work with individuals across the lifespan recognizing the gifts and and unique challenges that come with each life stage. I have extensive history working within the child welfare sector including adopted children and youth and their families. Given this background, I tend to work from an attachment-focused and psychodynamic approach, valuing the connection between early experiences and present day challenges.
In my work as an EMDR practitioner, I have enjoyed working with members of the Canadian Armed Forces and First Responders. I am also passionate about working with child and adult survivors of childhood maltreatment and other adverse experiences. I have worked extensively with neurodiversity in all of its forms and have enjoyed the success of EMDR therapy in it’s ability to allow new meaning to be taken away from the many challenges and experiences related to navigating the world as a neuro diverse individual. I am uniquely interested in the connection between early adverse experiences and their connection with chronic pain syndromes such as migraines, fibromyalgia, and others, as well as the efficacy of EMDR treatment in reducing symptoms of chronic pain. I have also found a great deal of success in treating phobias and OCD using EMDR as a primary treatment modality.
