Emily Orr

EMDR Basic Training

I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario. Since that time, I have worked in a variety of settings including both addiction and eating disorder clinics. I have also had the pleasure of working as a contract psychologist for CFB Halifax in one of their specialized mental health units for three years. I joined Dr. C. K. Perrier & Associates in January 2019 and became a full-time associate in July 2019.

The primary therapy that I provide is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This therapy was developed to treat those suffering from PTSD and trauma. There is new and emerging research to support the use of EMDR therapy with an array of additional mental health and emotional problems. I regularly attend trainings to maintain and advance my skills in the provision of this therapy.

In October and November 2022, I trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) therapy. DBR was developed by Dr. Frank Corrigan in Scotland. It is a trauma therapy that was primarily developed to help with attachment shock. Although it is not yet an evidence based treatment, it has a very strong theoretical framework based in neuroscience. More details about DBR can be found here: https://deepbrainreorienting.com/

I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that is Enhanced for Eating Disorder (CBT-E). I have been using this therapy for many years now as it is one of the gold-standard treatments for adults with eating disorders. I regularly attend international professional practice meetings with other CBT-E clinicians to maintain my skills in the provision of this therapy.

I work with clients who are 25 years of age and older.
