Heather Craigdallie

EMDR Basic Training

MMB Counselling

Heather is a seasoned and compassionate psychologist with a heartfelt commitment to enhancing the mental well-being of her clients. She has a wealth of expertise, employing a holistic, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive approach to address the needs of those she works with.

Heather graduated from the University of Alberta in 2012 with a Master of Education Degree, specializing in Counselling Psychology. She started her professional career doing trauma work, completing major practicums at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton and running programs for children impacted by intimate partner violence. She has since completed comprehensive training through the Child Trauma Academy. Heather has worked extensively in schools throughout northwestern Alberta over the last decade; as a result, she has considerable experience working with children and youth, and their families. Her understanding of the nuances of neurodevelopmental challenges allows her to tailor interventions to the specific needs of each client, fostering a supportive, developmentally-appropriate environment for growth and skill development.

Heather believes in working collaboratively with you to identify your strengths and choose what will be helpful according to your goals and unique needs. She utilizes methods from many areas, often combining them with somatic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), to build an adaptive and integrative therapy process. Her primary intention as a therapist is to create a safe space where you feel seen and understood, while gently helping you process the elements that are limiting forward momentum and facilitating a journey towards growth.

Heather is available to offer therapy to children, youth and adults around a wide range of topics including:

managing stress and anxiety
healing from trauma, abuse and childhood wounds
setting boundaries and building self-advocacy skills
building executive functioning, regulation and communication skills
navigating life transitions and changes
gaining work/school-life balance
moving through grief and loss
building insight, self-compassion and direction setting
