EMDR Basic Training Membership

Heather has been providing psychotherapy for over 25 years. She is a Registered Psychotherapist. Registered with the Ontario College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO). Heather’s values align with clinical excellence and community impact. She provides both psychotherapy and training. She holds a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, a Diploma in Art Therapy and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
She believes that therapeutic goals must be client-centred, and help should come from a collaborative approach. Heather is committed to clinical training of community colleagues, this includes students in psychology, psychotherapy, and social work. Heather is an adjunct professor in the Counselling Psychology program at Western University. Heather regularly teaches Systemic Practice (psychotherapy for families, couples, and groups) in the MA Counselling Psychology program.
She is trained in the therapeutic modalities of: CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy for individuals and couples) and EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy – Individuals Couples and Families). Finally, she is committed to both supporting individuals in their healing journey but also to creating a community where belonging and support are commonplace.
Her primary focus has been trauma, anxiety and depression. She is active in the first responder community and has a long history of supporting those healing from interpersonal violence.
Most importantly, she is the proud mother of three young adults! She also looks forward to going home to family in Nova Scotia every summer.
