EMDR Basic Training

Dr, Jaan Reitav

I am a registered Psychologist in the Province of Ontario, providing consultation and treatment in Clinical, Health, and Rehabilitation Psychology. I bring over forty years of experience to the assessment and treatment of sleep disorders, pain, anxiety, and depressive disorders, trauma, and management of chronic health conditions. For the past 18 years I has focused on the treatment needs of those with chronic health conditions, including cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, sleep disorders, chronic pain, cancer, and stroke. I see patients both in person as well as by video conference. I have a private practice and also work at the Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Program at University Health Network-Toronto Rehabilitation Institute in Toronto. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and a Consultant-in-Training for EMDR Therapy.

I have written chapters on clinical management of sleep problems, pain problems, and contributed to the Canadian Guidelines for managing Behavioral and Psychological Issues in Cardiovascular Disease in the Third Edition of the Canadian Guidelines for Cardiac Rehabilitation (2009). In October 2018 I conducted a full day workshop on Screening and Intervening with the psychological symptoms that cardiac patients most often present with at the Annual meeting of the Canadian Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation, CACPR. I have presented two half day workshops at the EMDR Canada Conferences in 2019 and 2021. I am co-author of a book for trauma therapists that will appear this summer, titled Putting Trauma to Sleep: Attachment-based Neuromodulation to Stabilize the Brainstem and Improve Sleep-Wake Health.
