Dr. Judy Moench Psychological Services Ltd.
Judy is a Registered Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta working in private practice with children, adolescents, and adults. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta, where she has worked with undergraduate and graduate students. Judy provides consultation to psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, and organizations in dealing with traumatic events, including the Department of National Defence, Alberta Health Services (Occupational Stress Injury Clinic, Addictions and Mental Health, University of Alberta Hospital); United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Doctors without Borders (MSF); Fire and Police Services, as well as School Divisions.
In terms of educational experience, she holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta. Judy is a past member of the EMDR Council of Scholars, an internationally recognized group of researchers, published authors, and clinical experts from around the globe. Over the years, she has participated in trauma trainings in Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. She hosts and facilitates trainings for psychologists, social workers, medical staff, and school staff locally, nationally, and internationally. Judy has helped compile a manual for working with groups involved in a recent traumatic event. The manual has been translated into many languages and used in different parts of the world. She is the Canadian trainer in these protocols. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Judy participated in developing the STEP protocol, an online EMDR self-care protocol aimed at decreasing stress and increasing coping. She also coordinates the Disaster Response Network for the Psychologists Association of Alberta.
Dr. Moench’s primary focus is on creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients, consultees, and trainees. Her dedication to this aspect of her work is evident in her efforts to facilitate the exploration of issues and assist others in moving toward their goals. This commitment to safety and support is a cornerstone of her practice, helping those she works with feel comfortable and secure.
