Hard Knox Counselling

Kate Day holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) under the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She is also a Counsellor for indigenous populations through First Nations Health Authority (FNHA).

Kate is an approved EMDR trainer through EMDRIA. She has been practicing EMDR in her private practice for over a decade and has been an EMDR consultant for a number of years. She has a passion for EMDR therapy, has seen it transform the lives of more than a thousand clients, and is dedicated to sharing this amazing modality with other therapists.

Most dysfunctional patterns of thinking, relating, and behaving can be traced back to childhood trauma and can be healed through reprocessing using EMDR. Through EMDR, people are able to achieve healthy and functional patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, and relating to other people. Addictions can be completely overcome through EMDR as people find inner peace and functional lives after processing their childhood trauma and dysfunction.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has been recognized as an effective treatment for trauma by the American Psychiatric Association, and “strongly recommended” by US Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense. A task force of the Clinical Division of the American Psychological Association determined that EMDR was one of three methods empirically supported for the treatment of any post-traumatic stress disorder population. Sixteen randomized controlled (and eight nonrandomized) studies have been conducted on EMDR in the treatment of trauma. This training is fully approved by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).

This training will include 20 hours of lecture centered on the foundational aspects of EMDR; including the how it was discovered, efficacy research, EMDR’s model, methodology, mechanisms, as well as the 8 Phases of EMDR. Ultimately, Kate’s goal is to impart a big-picture understanding of how EMDR works and what role the therapist can play to facilitate this powerful process. In addition we’ll be covering advanced techniques for complex clients and procedures for special populations.
This training will also include 20 hours of real time EMDR practice; meaning you will be providing and receiving EMDR therapy as a part of the training.

Please note:
This training is for licensed mental health professionals or provisionally licensed mental health professionals under the supervision of a licensed professional. If you’d like more information on training eligibility and requirements please visit the Training Eligibility section below.
