Who ~ Dr. Johnson is well-known for being a caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable psychologist who uses her warm personality and sense of humour to connect with clients and help them feel at ease. Her therapeutic approach focuses on using a variety of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, CBT, mind-body therapies, and arts-based therapies, in a holistic, anti-oppressive, client-centred way to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. She specializes in working with clients who have experienced traumas of all kinds, aiding clients in recovering from their traumatic experiences, reconnecting with themselves, developing healthy social connections, and creating the meaningful, satisfying lives they want to live. When she isn?t working, she is reading, writing, watching movies (she loves film!), going for nature walks, and spending time with her family and their many pets.

What ~ Dr. Johnson is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta (CAP #3271) and Northwest Territories (License #2250-71511), and is an EMDR certified therapist. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the accredited Educational Psychology program at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB. She has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from the University of Calgary (Calgary, AB) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree from York University (Toronto, ON). Dr. Johnson has won numerous accolades for her academic work, including awards for innovation and research excellence for her pilot study on therapeutic filmmaking, provincial and national-level awards and scholarships for her graduate work including the Best Dissertation Award from the CPA?s Counselling Section, and a performance arts award for her film work. She has presented at numerous conferences throughout Canada, has been published in national and international journals, and co-edited the foundational textbook on film/video as therapy, Film and Video as Psychotherapy: Research and Practice.
