Melissa Gray

EMDR Basic Training

Bloom Psychedelic Therapy and Research Institute

Melissa has provided personal counselling support as a registered psychologist for over 8 years, working as a counsellor for years prior. She has supported her clients to acquire the strategies and tools they need to achieve their hopes and aspirations and to thrive during times of difficulty, change, and transition. Her counselling experience spans individual personal and workplace concerns, couples, teens, and families. She has worked in settings such as community counselling agency, walk in therapy, public health, second stage shelter, higher education, and private practice.
Melissa says: “It’s an honor to walk alongside people I work with who have the courage to do the work necessary to achieve life changes. Witnessing others change always inspires me and I have tangible strategies as well as hope to offer you for your journey.“

In counselling, she likes to use an integrated approach, with a focus on trauma informed methods to support moving away from disturbing thoughts and memories including somatic and breathwork skills, mindfulness, and mind-body approaches (including Emotional Freedom Technique EFT or “tapping”) and neuroscience informed approaches including EMDR.

Melissa also enjoys learning about healing methods her clients find meaningful and welcomes you to share these with her during your work together so there is colloboration. Melissa is trained in therapeutic drumming facilitation and can offer this approach to support calming of the body and spirit. She pursues drumming to support her own wellness as well as a volunteer role for a local drumming community.

Melissa completed a Master of Science degree in counselling psychology at the University of Calgary. She completed her undergraduate studies at Saint Mary’s University, in Halifax, NS, where she was born and raised. Melissa is a member of the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. She is also a group facilitator, writer, community volunteer, and mother to an amazing five-year-old boy who helps her be silly everyday.
