Dr. Raquel Hoersting is an Associate Professor at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, where she teaches and supervises for the Doctor of Clinical Psychology program (PsyD). She has a background in clinical and social psychology that is focused on culture and mental health, particularly on identity shifts related to cultural, social and group aspects, and processes. She coordinates the Intercultural Inquiry in Psychology Lab, which researches topics related to the intersection of social identity, and belonging. More recently, her research has focused on culturally congruent psychological interventions including expressive and creative therapies, and EMDR therapy. She is a registered clinical psychologist in Canada and Brazil, an EMDR trainer in Brazil, and a certified EMDR therapist and approved consultant. Dr. Hoersting brings a creative approach to her work and has developed therapeutic materials for EMDR therapy with children and advanced workshops on EMDR including EMDR and Creativity, the Tree of Life EMDR protocol, the use of Social Identity Mapping for EMDR Therapy Formulation, and Narratives and Storytelling in EMDR therapy among others. She created the “Developmental Supervision Model for EMDR Therapy” and conducts ongoing research in this area. She also leads advanced workshops for clinical supervisors, as well as EMDR therapy supervisors and consultants, teaching internationally across diverse professional settings.Dr. Hoersting is accepting EMDR therapists for EMDR Consultation at this time.
