Sophia Barna M.Ed., M.S.W. is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician & Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant. Originally trained as a psychologist in Romania, Sophia holds two Master’s degrees from the University of Toronto and has been practicing psychotherapy in Canada for over 25 years, with an expertise in trauma-based conditions, optimal performance and spirituality. She is the author of “The SIMPLE Way: A Graceful Path to Success,” a book that guides readers towards achieving success through a holistic and mindful approach.
Sophia is renowned for her pioneering work in EMDR, specifically in the areas of academic and performance enhancement as well as EMDR and consciousness research. Her signature programs, such as “EMDR for Optimal Performance ” and “Transcending the Levels of Consciousness with EMDR,” have been presented in diverse countries including Ecuador, Israel, Turkey, Romania, Japan, the United States, and Canada.
In her practice, Sophia offers both individual and group EMDR therapy, as well as comprehensive programs (e.g., “Healing and Flourishing with EMDR”) and “EMDR Intensives” and retreats designed to promote healing and personal growth.
Additionally, she provides consultation and supervision to fellow EMDR therapists, fostering a community of practice that is dedicated to the highest standards of care.
