Sue/they has over 34 years of experience in the mental health field and healthcare; counselling privately, in Indigenous education at Red River College as well as in Federal and Provincial corrections; health educator; Children and Adolescent worker (Community and Children?s hospital); disability care provider; researcher in the area of mental health; medical faculty (pediatrics and bioethics); and University and Private instructor. She is also involved in many spiritual and alternative practices.

She/they uses an integrated and wholistic approach to guide clients to healing and transformation. She/they has developed a perceptive and inquisitive manner in order to attend to the needs of the client. My own life journey informs my work along with many years of intensive experiential training in body psychotherapy, healing medicines, indigenous practices, and energy work. I have worked with individuals of varying backgrounds and with diverse struggles. Many of my work situations have required sensitivity to diversity, social location, life struggles, and a perceptive and inquisitive manner in order to attend to the needs and at times crisis of clients and their families.

She/they has specialized in trauma work using EMDR, Hakomi body Psychotherapy, Ego state therapy, CBT, and various methods to address the whole person. She works with individuals of all ages and groups addressing trauma (e.g. abuse, car accidents), phobias, systemic abuse, addictions, grief, anxiety, stress, depression, selfesteem, health, and relationship issues.

She/they has worked with the following populations: correctional offenders (e.g. Trauma, personality disorders); individuals struggling with various mental health issues (e.g. PTSD, Depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia), individuals with varying disabilities; minorities (e.g. Aboriginal, 2SLGBTQPIA+, immigrants), cancer patients, general public, student populations, and corporate professionals (E.g. EnCana, Enmax). She/they has several years of experience in mental health work, assessment of individuals with bipolar disorder, three years working as a health educator, counselling individuals who are differently abled, three years at the Children?s hospital in mental health services, three years on a telephone crisis line, as well as several years of teaching and providing mental health education, counselling, and many years educating professionals.

Sue is a certified EMDR therapist, Approved Consultant, and Basic and Advanced Training Provider with EMDRIA. She/they has been working in health care for over 15 years. She/they is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with CCPA and Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC. She/they graduated from The University of Calgary with her 1st class Honors BA in Psychology and her Master of Science degree in Counselling Psychology. Sue is an EMDRIA-approved training provider and teaches EMDR Basic and EMDR Advanced courses.

Sue graduated from The University of Calgary with her 1st class Honors BA in Psychology and her Master of Science in Counselling Psychology. Her/they undergrad thesis, which won the department and CPA research awards, examined cultural ideologies of motherhood in a marginalized group of womyn, lesbians. Her/they Master?s thesis explored what contributed to healing and transformation from the client?s perspective. She/they has published in this area. Sue also has a three-year theology diploma. She/they has publications and presentations in the area of healing, from the client?s perspective, pediatrics, qualitative research, sexuality, and career counselling. Her professional activities include the areas of human rights, health care, feminist philosophy, career training, and research methodology. She/they has worked with the office of Medical Bioethics as a Project Manager developing a health care ethics service for the CRHA.

Over the years, Sue has won numerous awards for her academic work and taught several University classes (counselling skills, lifespan development, mind/body/spirit medicine, qualitative research, and sexuality). She/they has published articles and presented in the areas of holistic healing, EMDR, pediatrics, qualitative research, sexuality and career counselling.
