EMDR Basic Training
Lock 33 Counseling
I have been practicing social work for 15 years in the field of adult mental health across a broad range of mental health issues including trauma and stress, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, and self-esteem. I currently work in a hospital mental health outpatient setting and in private practice at Lock 33 Counseling in Lindsay, Ontario. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Wilfrid Laurier University and I’m registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
I am committed to providing a safe, gentle, compassionate, and respectful therapeutic environment in which healing and recovery can naturally occur. Through an anti-oppressive, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and attachment-informed approach, I support clients to explore current stressors, past challenges, and embark on personal healing and growth. We will work together to create a treatment plan that addresses your needs. Therapy can lead to improved coping and resilience, improved connection with self and others, and greater meaning/fulfillment in your life.
I utilize a number of therapeutic modalities including mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
I have completed my Level 1 & 2 EMDR Basic Training Certificate, which enables me to provide EMDR therapy. EMDR is recommended for treating psychological difficulties arising from traumatic experience, including PTSD. I am currently working toward being a certified EMDR Therapist and believe that on-going training is essential to professional growth and skill development to better serve my clients.
