Tina Shrigley

EMDR Consultant

Centre for Trauma and Stress

I work with clients who are struggling and stuck. Many of my clients have faced traumatic situations, whether one big trauma, or a series of traumas throughout their lives. They are looking for help to find relief from their trauma and want to feel like they are more present and connected in their daily lives and relationships. They want to feel as if they can finally achieve a sense of calm in their lives without always feeling on edge, or shut down and numb to all life has to offer for them. I work with children, adolescents, and adults and am an approved Indigenous Services Canada provider.

I specialize in the treatment of trauma, complex trauma, and dissociation using primarily DBR therapy. I also have 15 years of experience with EMDR therapy and parts work (structural theory informed). I may also recommend neurofeedback and/or other brain-based interventions as needed to help support my clients process their trauma in a way that is respectful, non-judgmental, and manageable.

Trauma occurs when we experience something that is beyond what our brains and bodies can tolerate. We are overwhelmed and can often feel helpless. This is not due to weakness. It is due to sheer overwhelm. We can only heal so much on our own before we need someone who understands how the brain and body respond to trauma to guide us toward hope and healing.

I provide virtual and in-person sessions for clients. I also provide virtual individual and group clinical consultation for DBR therapists.
