EMDR Basic Training Membership

My job is my vocation. I have been working with children, youth, families and individuals in the private and nonprofit sectors for 25 years in Northern Ireland and Ontario, Canada. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Science from The Open University (2022). I am registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), and am a Professional Member of the Canadian Counsellor and Psychotherapists Association (CCPA). I am a Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and a fully basic trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. I have additional training in Art Therapy, Crisis Intervention, and Suicide Prevention and Intervention. I have dedicated my career to working with individuals as they have navigated mental health distress and disorders, addictions, trauma, complex and/or developmental trauma or victims of crime, often liaising with Social Services, the Children’s Aid Society, Police Services, Indigenous Services, and various other agencies. I excel in various types of crisis intervention and needs assessment, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved and nurturing a safe, secure environment and a strong therapeutic alliance, allowing those we serve to recognize their capabilities, strengths, and internal resources. Individual safety and support plans are navigated and sustainable through the collaboration of individuals and community resources.I keep myself up-to-date with the latest legislation and Best Practices from the OCSWSSW and CCPA.
