Suzanne Spence

EMDR Basic Training

My name is Suzanne Spence from Abamuht Counselling Services. I am from Fort Albany First Nation. My practice utilizes pieces of western and traditional therapies. My counselling style is unique in that it is an infusion of therapies with a warm and interactive setting.

I strongly believes that the client is the expert in their own healing and that there is no single approach is right for everyone. I have been trained in different modalities such as Focused Intention Technique, Thought Field Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma and Attachment Counselling and EMDR. Within sessions, I suggest and share tools and strategies so the client may utilize what best fits.

Abamuht Counselling Services offers confidential Mental Health Counselling, in the Timmins area.

The practice’s main focus is to provide mental health counselling for the indigenous population who did not have access to an indigenous provider. I am an approved provider with Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) – Mental Health Counselling (MHC) Benefit providing counselling services covered by Health Canada to people who are “status indians.” as well as for the Indian Residential School Survivors Program and the MMIWG (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls).

I also provides counselling services to all whose work benefits cover mental health counselling by a registered social worker or privately.
